Winter

A refreshingly clear and crisp atmosphere embraces Teshima in winter.

The sun rises slowly to melt the frost, making the flowers and plants gently glisten in the light.
Strawberries, mandarin oranges, and lemons bear fruit, adding a beautiful touch of color to the island’s scenery.

The stars twinkle at night, and as the island is cloaked in an air of silence, the subtle sounds of the breeze and the rustling of the trees can be heard.

One is quietly reminded of the nature that is close at hand.

  • Strolling through the village amidst the cool breeze, one is welcomed by the warm colors of the flowers.
  • Aspects of local island life can be observed, such as thinly sliced strips of dried daikon radish that are placed beneath the eaves of houses.
  • Lemon trees growing in abundance is a scene that reflects winter on the island. A refreshingly aromatic scent drifts through the air.
  • The plum blossoms start to flower at the end of winter to tell of the coming of spring.
